Association of Collaborative Forest Users Nepal (ACOFUN) is an umbrella organization of the Collaborative Forest Management Groups (CFMs) across the country. There are 25 formally registered CFM groups in Terai and is managing 44,000 hectare forest area. A total of 60,00,000 people are being benefitted from CFM in terai. It is a leading civil organization and since its establishment, it has been working for sustainable forest management including advocating for local people’s rights over the natural resources. ACOFUN has been implementing different activities in collaboration and consultation with national and international organizations for strengthening the roles of collaborative forest management groups in policy formation process of the natural resource management sector.
ACOFUN is recognized by stakeholders as an innovative and strong civil society organization in natural resource management and pro- active policy development and practices. It is also an important organization in promoting community based natural resource management in the sustainable way.
